Our July meet was held Sunday 30th of July at South Curl Curl beach. Smaller conditions gave us an opportunity to try a different location.
With cold off-shore winds just one heat was help in each category as competitors struggled to stay warm despite a promised 26 degree day. Heat results are as follows: Juniors: First - Tahyna Randall Second - Summer O'Gorman Shortboard: First - Di Smith Second - Michelle Gamble Third - Jacqui Randall Longboard: First - Sue McComb Second: Celina O'Gorman Third: Sharon O'Reilly Beginners: First - Lauren Raine Second - Andrea Shockman Whilst our first meet for Winter started with sunshine, and whales breaching off freshwater beach, by the end we were all reminded that it was indeed winter with rain, wind and wobbly waves. With low tide dumpers making the first heats of the day challenging, it was great to see some new faces come along and enjoy their first competition regardless. Wayne from Line Up Surf in Dee Why bought along some of his coaching clients to experience their first GBF meet and to create new relationships with other women and girls who love to surf. Not only did he help with judging but even jumped in the water and pushed some of our competitors on waves in the beginners longboard heat. Finals heat results are:
Final Shortboard 1st - Lany Donaldson 2nd - Jacqueline Randall 3rd - Tara Smith Final Longboard 1st - Alison Dalziel 2nd - Penny 3rd - Dawn Our next meet is on Sunday the 16th of July at 8am. Stay tuned to facebook or instagram for any changes. And last but not least, a big shout out to Wayne who is so supportive of GBF. If you are looking for lessons, boards, other gear or planning a surf trip, go check out Line Up Surf. After having to postpone our scheduled meet to May 28th due to conditions, even after all turning up on the previous week, it was a relief to have stunning weather, and surfable waves, albeit small ones.
The smaller conditions gave everyone of all abilities the chance to paddle out the back and make the most of what was on offer. Heat results are as follows: Final Shortboard A: Lani Donaldson - First Di Smith - Second Jules Lachele - Third Final Shortboard B: Tikki (Anitgone) Miterrand - First Zoe Grout - Second Stephanie Knowles - Third Final Longboard : Dianna Patterson - First Karen Laverack - Second Karen Webster - Third Congratulations to all our winners. Next meet is scheduled for Sunday 18th of June. Keep an eye on social media for updates. April meet results are as follows:

Our rescheduled March Meet saw us finally enjoy some sunshine on a beautiful morning. The sun was out, the waves had some size on them, however were challenging to ride with lot's of close-outs. Zac O'Gorman generously brought along his drone and captured some great footage (featured above) of a stunning Sunday morning and some of our competitors getting some waves. Huge thanks to Zac. With a slightly smaller no of competitors this month, heats ran efficiently and smoothly thanks to Di and also Fi who managed the timing, hooter and flags for us. Heat results were as follows: Results: Junior (no final) 1st - Zoe Grout 2nd - Summer O'Gorman 3rd - Maggie Shortboard Final 1st - Jacqui Randall 2nd - Di Smith 3rd - Moz Graham Longboard Final 1st - Sue McComb 2nd - Kylie Taylor-Houston 3rd - Celina O'Gorman Our next meet will be held on Sunday April 30th - we are holding it on the last Sunday of the month to account for those away over the School Holidays. Make sure you also mark the evening of the 5th of May in your diaries for a social night out at the Dee Why RSL. We hope all those heading to Seal Rocks this weekend get some great waves. Big thanks also to our meet sponsor Manly Longboard Company who generously donated our raffle prizes. It was a grey morning, low tide and smallish waves for our first meet of 2017 at Freshwater Beach Sunday 19th of February. On the bright side the smaller conditions kept the crowds away, which always puts a smile on a surfers face. A new year, means a new hoodie, proudly modelled here by Sharon. This year members had the option to join or renew with a new hoodie or without, but let's face it, there can never be enough surfing merch! Finals Results:
